The new magazine of the Haus der Bayerischen Geschichte is the companion volume to the Bavarian exhibition "Project Freedom - Memmingen 1525", which will be presented in Memmingen in 2025 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Peasants' War and the "Twelve Articles".
The booklet is not only about the history of the "Twelve Articles", which were written 500 years ago as the central document of the peasants in Memmingen. It also opens up new perspectives on various topics related to the Peasants' War, such as how women experienced it as protagonists. In addition, the focus is on the topic of "freedom", which is closely linked to the "Twelve Articles". How has the concept of freedom changed over the centuries? This is a question that the magazine explores.
Renowned authors, such as the Frankfurt legal historian David von Mayenburg and the Munich journalist and writer Lena Gorelik, address these issues.
