Throughout history, women have played a vital role in times of crisis - as the hands, minds, and hearts of help. This is the story we tell in Ursberg! Immerse yourself in Bavarian history and discover pivotal moments of the past three centuries in which women changed the world for the better.
From the eruption of Mount Tambora in 1815 – which darkened the skies and caused the “Year Without a Summer” – to COVID-19: Women time and again have turned the tide for the better as individuals or in communities, and for very different motives. Join us on a remarkable journey through the history of aid.
In the dehumanizing halls of 19th-century factories, courageous women raised their voices for the workers. Around 1900, women broke free from the corset of their times and made history in the fight for emancipation. The “Bahnhofsmission” (a Christian-based social service organisation) was established to provide women a safe haven amid the dangerous chaos of the cities. Because... the Munich Strangler was prowling!
What innovative ideas have the Ursberg Sisters of the Congregation of St. Josef developed to help people with disabilities – continuing to this day? Why can Kneipp therapy, spa cures, and cocaine be mentioned in the same breath? How did the myth of the “Trümmerfrauen” (lit. rubble women) come about? And what’s the story behind Uschi Obermaier? The Bavarian State Exhibition 2027 offers answers to all of these questions (and many more).
Your visit to Ursberg will be an immersive experience. Explore numerous hands-on stations, innovative designs, and a diverse accompanying programme. The 2027 State Exhibition is both historical and contemporary, diverse and interactive – a multi-sensory journey that educates without preaching, moves, and entertains. It’s an exhibition for everyone.
And all of this takes place in a unique setting: the Ursberg care cosmos in Bavarian Swabia.
