1879 Born in Ludwigshafen

1905 Studies at the Technical University in Munich and gains engineering doctorate

from 1910 works at the Physical-Technical Institute in Berlin- Charlottenburg, becomes internationally acknowledged specialist for thermodynamics and heat transfer

January 1, 1936 Retired from his work because of his Jewish origins

April 1, 1936 Lands in New York to give a series of lectures throughout the USA

1937 Research Professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago

1955 Max Jakob dies in Chicago

1961 "Max Jakob Memorial Award" for outstanding achievements in heat transfer research
