Carl Bayer

June 8, 1903 born in Burgsinn, Lower Franconia, in the Main-Spessart region of Germany

1917–1919 apprentice mechanic and lathe operator at Fichtel & Sachs in Schweinfurt; then trains as a precision mechanic (machine-tool mechanic)

August 21, 1923 emigrates to the USA with two other men, Albert Lutz and Philipp Klespies, from his home town of Burgsinn. Travels via Cuxhaven and New York to Utica, New York

1925/26 hired by the Todd Company in Rochester, New York

April 20, 1927 First marriage – to Josephine Beerhalter from Dalkingen, near Aalen in Württemberg (born 20. April 1898)

October 1, 1929 becomes an American citizen, and travels to Germany with his wife for the summer of 1930

1931/32 wage cut and part-time work because of the recession after the Great Crash of 1929

November 11, 1932 birth of son Robert Valentin Bayer

From January 1936 employed at Hawkeye-Kodak in Rochester

November 10, 1936 death of his wife Josephine

1940 buys house in the Rochester suburb of Irondequoit

February 1954 second marriage, to Wilhelmine Huber (born in Munich on October 30, 1914, emigrated 1949)

January 1969 Carl Bayer becomes a pensioner

November 7, 2001 Carl Bayer dies
