In Schweinfurt, there is a war
memorial for the fallen soldiers of both World Wars on Martin-Luther-Platz,
to the south of Johanniskirche. The insciption reads: DEM ANDENKEN DER IM
WELTKRIEG GEFALLENEN 731 SÖHNE DIESER STADT (in memory of the 731 sons
of this city who fell in the World War). The names of the fallen soldiers
are not listed. On the Jewish part of
the municipal cemetery, there are three gravestones which commemorate fallen
Jewish soldiers of World War I.
On one of the commemorative stone - below a
sphere - you will find the following inscription:
ALS PFLICHTGETREUER KRIEGER
STARB FÜR DAS
VATERLAND AM 7. MAI 1915 UNSER TREUER SOHN
THEODOR SILBERSTEIN GEB. 22.DEZ 1888
