In Schopfloch, there used to be a war memorial, but it was pulled down. All but one plaque of it were destructed. The surviving plaque is now to be found in the protestant church of St.Martin. Below the dedication:

Gewidmet den Kampfgenossen Schopfloch

(in memory of the German-French war 1870/71, dedicated to the combatants of Schopfloch)

the names of the combatants are listed. Among them you will find the Jewish soldier:

Below a helmet on another gravestone, the following inscription can be deciphered: Herr Simon Bravmann v. Wittelshofen geb. 2. Febr. 1892 gest 23. Dez. 1933 (?) Für König und Vaterland zog er hinaus Ein Held in tosendem Schlachtengebraus Tückisches Leid hat jäh ihn ereilt Die treue Seele in Eden nun weilt (he went out for king and country, a heroe in the fierce battle, he suffered a sudden death, the true soul is in Eden now) A gravestone refers to a former soldier with the following words: Hier ruhen meine lieben Kinder unsere unvergeßlichen Schwester und Bruder Lina u. Ferdinand Herold v. Schopfloch Frontk. u. Kriegsbeschädigter geb 28. November 1888 geb. 9. März 1892 gest. 29. Juli 1934 gest. 23. Dez.1934
		Hier ruht in der Heimat unser lieber Sohn und Bruder Max Oppenheimer geb. d. 15. Juni 1895 in Feuchtwangen gest. d. 20. Januar 1915 in Montigny Für König und Vaterland zog er hinaus Ein Held in tosendem Schlachtengebraus Tückisches Leid hat jäh ihn ereilt Die treue Seele in Eden nun weilt (here lies M.O. ....he went out for king and country, a heroe in the fierce battle, he suffered a sudden death, the true soul is in Eden now)
