On the Ostfriedhof next to the
parochial church of Rimpar, there are two war memorials: one for the wars of
1866 and 1870/71 and a further one for the fallen soldiers of World War I.
On the older memorial that is decorated with a
statue and below it a Bavarian helmet, you will find the following
inscription:
Gott zum Danke den Kämpfern
zur Ehre der Nachwelt zum Gedächtnis errichtet dieses Denkmal der
Kampfgenoss. Verein u. die Gemeinde Rimpar ihren im Felde der Ehre
gestandenen und gef. Kriegern v. 1866 70/71 im Jahre 1903.
(In gratitude to God, in honour of the
combatants, as a reminder for the living, the Kampfgenoss. Verein and the
community of Rimpar dedicates this memorial to the brave and the fallen
soldiers of the wars in 1866 and 1870/71, in the year 1903)
On the right side, below the text:
Zurückgekehrte Krieger v.Feldzuge 1870/71 (combatants who returned from
the campaign of 1870/71) the soldiers of Rimpar are listed in alphabetical
order, among them the Jewish combatant:
Adler Abrah.
On the left side, below the inscription
Zurückgekehrte Krieger v. d. Feldzuge 1866 (combatants who returned from
the campaign of 1866) you will find the Jewish soldier:
Schwab. Bor.
A further memorial is situated near the
cemetery wall on the opposite side. In the center of the memorial site,
there is a group of figures, to the left and the right of it, stone plaques
with the names of the fallen soldiers have been put up. On the left side,
below the date 1914, you will find the following headline: Ihren
im großen Weltkriege 1914–18 gefallenen Helden-Söhnen (to the great sons
who fell in 1914-1918). On the right, below the date 1918: Gewidmet dem
ehrenden Andenken die dankbare Gemeinde Rimpar(dedicated in honourable
memory by the community of Rimpar). Below both inscriptions, the names of
the fallen soldiers are listed, among them the following Jewish soldiers:
