gest. den Heldentod für sein deutsches Vaterland i. d. Vogesen am Sonntag d. 21. Mai 1916 d.i. am 18. Jiar 5676 i. Alter v. 35 Jahren.

(here lies our dear husband and father Herr Joseph Herrmann, from this place...he died a heroic death for his German home country in the Vosges on sunday 21st of may, on 18th of Jiar 5676, at the age of 35)
