The war memorial for the fallen
soldiers of the two World wars in Nordheim is situated in the center of the
village, between the townhall and the river Streu. In the center of a
semi-circular area, there is a square memorial, with a Bavarian lion on top
of it, wounded by an arrow. Below the inscription:
UNSEREN LIEBEN, IM
WELTKRIEGE 1914 – 1918 GEFALLENEN HELDENSÖHNEN ZUM EHRENDEN, DANKBAREN
GEDENKEN GEWIDMET DIE GEMEINDE NORDHEIM 1924
(to our dear heroic sons, who fell in the
World War of 1914-1918, dedicated by the grateful community of Nordheim
1924)
On a metal plaque on the front of the
memorial, the names of the fallen soldiers of World War II are listed. On
the other sides, the names of the fallen soldiers of World War I have been
cut into the stone, among them the following Jewish-German soldiers:
