In Feuchtwangen, the war
memorial for the fallen soldiers of the two World Wars is situated in the
park called "Am Zwinger", on "Untere Torstraße", near the market-square. Now
used as a fountain, it is a monument for the fallen soldier of 1939-1945,
that lists no names. At a distance of about 50 m, at the northern part of
the park, plaques with the names of the fallen soldiers of World war I have
been put up on the facade of the town wall.
Among the names of the fallen soldiers, you
will find the two Jewish-German soldiers
Oppenheimer Julius 3.IV.15
Bois d’Vly
Oppenheimer Max 20.I.15
Metz
Both names can also be found in the
„Ehren-Chronik 1914 – 1918", that was compiled by the former Veteranen- und
Kriegerverein. (This is to be found in the town archives). |
