Coburg

In Coburg there are still two memorials, that commemorate the fallen Jewish soldiers of World war I.

The first memorial is situatued on the Jewish part of the municipal cemetery. In the center of the Jewish part, there is a war memorial with the star of David on top of it. Below the inscription in Hebrew and in German:DEM EHRENDEN GEDÄCHTNIS UNSERER TEUREN TOTEN, DIE FUER DAS VATERLAND STARBEN 1914 – 1918 , the names of the following fallen Jewish soldiers can be found:

In the lower central part of the memorial, below the Hebrew letters JNZBH, there is a plaque with the following inscription:

UNSEREM UNVERGESSENEN TEUREN SOHN
ARTHUR FRANKENBERG
(Abraham ben Moshe) [hebräisch]
GESTORBEN IM FELDE AN SEINER VERWUNDUNGa. 25. MAI 1917

(To our dear and unforgotten son Arthur Frankenberger (Abraham ben Moshe) - Hebrew, who died from his injuries on the fields of honour on the 25th of mai 1917)

A further memorial for the fallen soldiers of World War I is to be found on the "Schloßplatz", below the arcades. On the walls of a vaulted hall all the dead are listed in alphabetical order, among them the following Jewish soldiers:
