Binswangen
Dillingen a.d. Donau (Schwaben)

In the "old synagogue", that was reopened in 1996 as a "place of reuninon and rememberance", you will find a commemorative plaque for the combatants and fallen soldiers of the extinguished congregation of Binswangen. It had long been hidden and thus was saved, while the synagogue was destroyed and defiled and the members of the congregation were expiled and murdered. Below a star of David and the inscriptionDEN HELDENTOD FÜR’S VATERLAND STARBEN IM WELTKRIEGE 1914/18 (Having died a heroic death in the World war of 1914/18), the names and further information of the fallen soldiers can be found:

Binswangen's public war memorial for the fallen soldiers of the two World Wars is located on the cemetery, to the left of the chapel. In the center of the memorial complex is a wooden figure of St.George, with the inscription IN TREUE FEST (we remain loyal), two coats of arms, with the inscription: GEWIDMET DEN TAPFEREN HELDEN DER GEMEINDE (dedicated to the brave heroes of the community), a lantern and - below that - a further inscription: GOTT MIT UNS (God be with us). To the left and the right of the memorial, there are two wooden plaques, on which small oval metal plaques are fixed, that give the rank, name, regiment, date and place of death of the fallen soldiers of both World Wars.

On the plaques we find the names of the Jewish-German soldiers:
