Bamberg
(Oberfranken)
In 1927, the town of Bamberg put up 20 memorial plaques on the war cemetry, which forms a part of the "Hauptfriedhof". On these plaques, the names of the fallen soldiers from Bamberg are engraved, grouped in military units. In the complex, that has been turned after 1945 into a memorial for the dead of the two World Wars, the following Jewish soldiers are listed under the different units:

On the Jewish cemetery of Bamberg, which is situated next to the "Hauptfriedhof", you will find a huge memorial for the fallen soldiers, put up by the congregation in the Tahara-house. Below the inscription:

On another military grave, only the name of Bernet can be deciphered.

The gravestone of Moritz and Fritz Grausmann has the additional inscription:

On the base of the gravestone for Herrn Simon Loewi, below an Iron Cross, you will find the following inscription:

A further inscription from the last century clearly shows, how proud the Bavarian Jews were of their military ranks:
