Images of America circa 1910 - from a Munich collection

For the exhibition "Goodbye Bavaria - Grüß Gott America" the image archive of the Haus der Bayerischen Geschichte was presented by Mrs.
Thurner, Munich, with a series of photographs taken in America between 1906 and 1910.

The photographs originally came from a Munich photographic club that made large-format slides of the United States available to its members. The photographer is unknown, nor do we know whether someone took a journey to the US or whether other photographic sources were used.

The images, impressively atmospheric even today, show buildings in various American and Canadian cities: monuments, residential buildings, business premises, streets, bridges, rail junctions and industrial buildings, as well as people leading their everyday lives. Our thanks to Mrs. Thurner, Munich.
