Christian Barthelmeß (1854-1906) from Klingenberg was photographer in the U.S. Army from the 1870's until his death. His photographs of the native indians and the army life were shown for the first time in Europe.

For all those many immigrants whose hopes did not fulfil or who lost their lives in search for their luck in the New World stood the bed of Katharian Hörauf from Elpersbach bei Windsbach in Franconia. After she left her home in Bavaria nothing was heard from her anymore.
